A new face! Well, at least on the website. My name is Bob and I've been working at the Supersteil office for over a year now. This initially started because of a project cooperation (of which I will probably write something more in a future post), but over the last few months I've been doing more and more freelance work for Supersteil. With Supersteil being the greatest place I've ever had the chance to work at, I am very happy to announce that we agreed on continuing working together on a permanent base.
That's nice, but who are YOU?
I'm an interactive developer with great interest in concept development and new technologies. Currently I live in Amsterdam, but I'm planning on moving towards Rotterdam soon. (If you have a place for rent or know someone who has.. let me know!) In my time off (if I'm lucky enough to have some) I love to eat, travel (drive!), listen to and move on dance music, play old computer games, go for some drinks, sing where no one can hear me, think, and work on new ideas which pop up in my head about every day.
And how about your work?
As a little kid my dad introduced me to a hobby of his: computer programming. He taught me how to use Foxpro, in which I wrote my first application as a 9-year old. After that I got to taste bits of Java, C#, Actionscript and ASP, but in the end I decided to stick with PHP and MySQL. My professional career took off in 1999, when I built a social networking site for my high school which was used by practically all students and teachers. Following up this success I decided to expand my knowledge and I went to study Information Sciences, Communication & Multimedia Design, and finally Media, Culture and Philosophy. At the very last moment I chose to cancel a Master's program on New Media, because I felt more like I wanted to start up my own business. So I did, with ending up at Supersteil as a result of that.
What are your future plans?
That's quite hard to answer since I'm not really a far-future planning person - tomorrow is exciting enough. For now my main goals are to build great products at Supersteil, learn as much as possible (WebGL is really awesome) and launch my own product within a couple of months. If I manage to make the latter a success I will probably stay with that, but only time can tell. For now it's just really great to be officially part of the Supersteil team and amaze you guys and girls with great interaction.
Cheers!
